(figurative) thin ice.

kate had a field trip to the ice rink.

the babies and i joined her.

tessa refused to be a spectator.

nobody puts baby in a corner. 

i think i was a week post-surgery.

they wouldn't let me on the ice in my tennis shoes.

i've added ice skating to the things that hurt my knee list.

other things on the list are snow skiing, water skiing, rollerblading, bowling... pretty much anything fun.

the first lap was entitled "rag doll."

tessa was dead weight in my arms as she skimmed her skates on the ice and i tried to hold her up while shuffling like an old woman around the rink.

one lap took thirty minutes and my triceps and shoulders were on fire.

lucky for me, kate is brave and tough.

she skated around on her own and had a blast.

she had to have fallen at least 86 times.

every time she fell i was positive she broke a bone, but she would just laugh and get back up.

there is a life lesson somewhere in that for me...

eve was not happy to be left behind, so we decided to take the stroller for a spin.

best idea ever.

and no, i'm not sure it's actually allowed.

i didn't actually, officially ask.

but the stroller gave tess something to hold onto.

and the movement kept eve happy.

it was also a little easier on my triceps and shoulders.

and my knee too 'cause I could hold onto it- like a walker.

yes, i'm pretty much disabled.

good thing my coolness makes up for it...

what kind of mother takes pictures when her kids are in distress.

eve fell asleep on the ice.

despite the fact that kate skated over to us and grabbed the stroller handles and then fell and tipped the stroller over.

don't worry she was totally strapped in.

plus she's pretty much used to being dumped out of strollers and carts and stuff... 

after about an hour, kate was a pro.

she did fall immediately after i took this picture.

i was sure she broke her arm.

but she just laughed and started skating again.

sometimes i wish i could be less like me and more like my girls.

because i'm sorry, but my baby girls are so awesome.

but i do believe that the winter olympics might not be in the cards for us...
